About Our Pupils

Our school looks to create a participatory ethos for its pupils and we have three main groups for the children to become actively involved in decision making.

Pupil council

Our school places a high priority in listening to our children's views. To help this, a group called the Pupil Council was established. Each year pupils in P3-P7 elect a boy and girl representative to form part of the Pupil Council which meets regularly with the Head teacher to discuss ideas, feedback, issues or concerns. The children elected as Pupil Council members in 2010-2011 are:

Class Representative
P1 & 2 Abbie Hamilton and Fiona Millar
P3 Anya Penderis and Munro Dunlop
P4 Sarah Gibb and Ben Lennox
P5 Aidan Grevemberg and Kate Cottle
P6 James Girven and Jenna Clark
P7 Luke O’Neill and Lewis Forbes

The Fair Trade Committee

The Fair Trade Committee was set up in Januay 2009. It is led by Mrs MacLeod (PT) and Mrs McArthur (Parent).

Class Pupil Representative
P4 Finlay Millar and Alex Begbie
P5 Innes Dunlop and Lochlann Walford
P6 Kim Denton and Hannah Gibson
P7 Arran Hamilton and Sean Edwards

House System and Captains

Our school operates a House System whereby all children are members of a house. The houses are named after trees: Rowan, Oak, Beech, Maple and Willow. The House System helps to further develop the community spirit within the school.

Children are grouped vertically providing opportunities to get to know children from different classes/stages throughout the school. Children are given a coloured house badge at the beginning of each session. Lost ones can be replaced at a cost of 10p each.

Points are awarded to pupils and their house for good social and caring behaviour towards others and the school environment. Also for looking smart in their school uniform and for wearing their house badges.

Two house captains are selected each year from P7. Captains for 2010-2011 are as follows:

House Badge colour Captains
Willow Blue Daniel Taylor and Caitlin Semple
Oak Yellow Lewis Forbes and Monica Sloan
Beech Green Jemma Whyte and Rachael Methven
Maple Orange Fiona Millar and Oxana McGuigan
Rowan Red Matthew Cornes and Melanie Morey
