Parent Councils

A New Law to Support Parents leafletThe Parental Involvement Act was passed by the Scottish Parliament on 10 May 2006. It aims to support and encourage more families to become involved in the education of their children.

A leaflet, A New Law to Support Parents, has been produced by the Scottish Government, which explains more about the new legislation.

Parent Councils have been set up in most schools in Stirling, replacing school boards. A Parental Involvement Strategy is being developed which will set out how Children's Services will meet requirements of the legislation.

Killearn Primary School (KPS) Parent Council

The first meeting of our new KPS Parent Council took place on the 12th Sep 2007 where its constitution was accepted. All details regarding the council's activities including meeting minutes and its constitution can be access through the Parent Council Blog.

Two or three meetings are held each term, usually in the General Purpose Room at the school. All parents are encouraged to attend. Check our diary for the next meeting date.
