Welcome to our school

HMIE Inspection
Our visitors have now gone and we are settling in to the new term. It was a very positive, if intense, experience and we await the report at the beginning of March. Thank you for all your good wishes and supportive messages. We do appreciate everything that you do for the school and know that we value this in our working with the children. I have to say that the children were stars, all of them. This I am sure will be reflected in the report. Special thanks to all staff for their hard work and dedication preparing for our inspection.
Burns’ Celebration
On Wednesday 25th January the options for Red Tray lunch will be on a Scottish Theme: Haggis, Neeps and Tatties. Children can also opt to wear a ‘touch of tartan’ on that day.
Burns Concert
On Friday 3rd February, children will have the opportunity to enjoy each others performance and are again invited to wear Tartan on this day. We have invited Senior Members of our community to come along and join us for the Burns Concert on Friday 3rd February at 1.45 p.m.
Burns Coffee Morning
The PTA will hold the annual Burns Coffee Morning on Saturday 4th February from 10.00 a.m. until 12 noon. Please note the venue will be the Village Hall and not the school.
At this event, any pupil who wishes, can put themselves forward to sing or recite during the morning. This is a very ‘ad hoc’ occasion which results in great fun for all. Mrs Riddell copes fantastically with the variety and repetition of performances and our choir always please us with their programme.
Entrance will be £2.00 for Adults and £1.00 for Children. The PTA would welcome any donations of home baking and/or prizes for the raffle. Please note that we require sufficient donations to supply the event as in the past there has been a poor response. Home baking and raffle prizes may be handed in to the school office before 3.15pm on Friday 3rd or at the Village Hall by 10am on Saturday 4th.

School Equipment
We do ask you to ensure that all children come to school ready for work. Please make sure that they all have pencils, in particular. We see lots of fancy pens, rubbers and sharpeners but often not this basic item.
Latecoming
Please try to ensure that all children are in school before the bell rings at 9.00am. We do not chastise the children as we often see them arriving late with their parents. We encourage the children to be lined up and waiting for their teachers. Rewards are given to the most prompt classes. You could be spoiling your child’s chance! Obviously there can be emergencies and unforeseeable delays but there is a regular cohort of latecomers every day. This can put stress on the children, starting the day badly. Thank you for your support in this.
P.E Gymnastics
Please be aware that children are asked to do this barefoot. If your child has a verruca, please let the teacher know so that we can arrange for them to do this with their foot covered.

FAO parents of those children involved in: STIRLING COUNCIL INSTRUMENTAL TUITION SCHEME
In order to allow more parents the opportunity to let us know how we are getting on, the Instrumental Service is offering an online survey for parents of pupils involved in the Instrumental Tuition Scheme and we would appreciate if parents/carers would spend a few minutes completing it, in order for us to assess and improve our service.
The survey is available at www.svy.mk/musictuition until 10th February 2012. To minimise costs, the survey is available online but if you would like to receive a paper copy of the survey, please telephone Irene Paterson on 01786 442520.
